JG52Karaya: Oleg has allready answered your question. In an video interview by a guy call mysticpuma Oleg says, that the effects are only temporary placeholders from the Il-2 game as the effect for SOW:BOB was not ready at the time.

I believe that this picture was taken in the same period as the interview, so the muzzle flash is from Il-2 and not the final SOW:BOB effect

I think the plane is either a spitfire or a hurricane given the colour of the upper fuselage and the fact that the engine is not yellow.

I think he is going into the water and getting a belly full of the channel
