maybe its becaus its only 49.99 not even a full price for a game, i wouldnt mind paying the 800-1000 points ($12.50) for the new material. I didnt like Hawx either.

its because originally, having 40+ flyable planes was never even part of the equation. only the planes that you use in the campaign were going to be available. a last minute decision was made to make them all flyable, and pushing the game back further to create 30 more cockpit views wasn't an option. so yeah, it kind of is a favor to us, there are tons of threads on this. have a look around.

well over here it IS going to be £39.99 which is alot of money for a game, especially one that isnt finished due to indecision.

like i said, dont get me wrong im greatful for the extra planes, it will be amazing, but id rather wait and part with my money for a finished game, than pay full price now, and then top it up for another £10, later, i dont know how 49.99 dollers equates at the current exchange rate but we here in england are not getting the same great deal you guys are.

and i know that it wasnt originally intended, im just saying lets not pretend its a favour when ultimately that "favour is going to hit us in the pocket". maybe not for people state-side, but it will over here.

Anton also said they will include them with OTHER DLC.

For example new maps/planes + cockpits.

also driving up the cost, once you add new maps DLC prices go up cus theres more in it,

again DLC is great as optional xtras, but some things should come as standard and are worth waiting for, cockpits imho are exactly that.

especially when u consider than if this DLC is optional, some people will choose not to download it so their view arent obscured, it creates an un-level playing field.

im curious to see how big these arenas will be, e.g. round flight times etc. i hope its not limited by time but by points, or your at least allowed to choose etc. that would be fantastic.

I think now is a lil too early to start complaining. The developers have really gone to bat for us with the suits and I am sure whatever DLC(s) they release will maintain the quality we have come to expect.

Do you think anyone at EA would beg to do MORE work just to appease the fans?

I think the US are getting a good deal, they are paying 60% game price and then download DLC for 25% game price. thats fine, but in the UK, we're paying 100% game price, and then expected to top up the rest of it for another 25% game price.

If they released the DLC cockpits for free (which some games do do free DLC) then all is well with the world, i just think its a little cheeky to release a technically unfinished game. as wonderful as it is to give us an extra 30 planes.

thats like playing £40 for Modern Warfare 2, but having to download the camouflage patterns for the players later, and in the mean time you're walking around in an orange jumpsuit. it's just a ltitle bit cheeky.

and please understand its not a criticism of the lack of cockpits, thats not really what i take issue with, its the PRICE, the US seems to be getting a good deal, but UK isnt.

let me break it down price wise
US prices (in GPB £)
Standard Game e.g. Modern Warfare 2 = £40
Downloadable content = 800 MS points = £8

IL-2 Birds of Prey = £25-£30
DLC = 800-100 MS Points = £8-£10.

Fair deal.

UK Prices (in GBP £)
Modern Warfare 2 = £40
DLC = £8 (average yes?)

IL2 = £40
DLC = £8-£10

now do you understand my gripe?

i dont mind DLC or lack of cockpits but a full price game on one side of the atlantic, and a 60% price game on the other is a little cheeky.

and thats ignoring the whole some people have obscured views and some people dont issue.

I just looked up a price and its 30.80 (you fancy symbol for money) to our 49.99. and the DLC for 1000 MS pts will only be $12.50 to your 7.7 (fancy symbol) So we are saving around 15 pounds?

fancy symbol = a pound sign, and there we go, you're saving £10 more than we are, and 1000 MS points to the pound is also around about £10, so technically you save $20 US, which is great for you, but not for UK people. it's a little tight of the company. I wonder why there's such a big gap in price accross the pond, cus usually they're pretty similar. or at least they are with canada's market.
