I generally don't pre-order anything, unless it is a game coming with limited edition hardware, such as Steel Battalion or Ace Combat 6.

I've never once not been able to find a game the day it comes out.
For games like this, I find no reason to pre order; Gamestop will give you the pre order swag anyways, and they'll have it in stock no matter what.

I WILL BE BUYING IT ON RELEASE DAY THOUGH.

You have to pay for them ?!?!

Yes, the only way to get these planes without paying for them is by pre-ordering the game.

Gah, this seems to be a new "thing" for Game – downloadable extras if you pre-order a game from them. (Batman: Arkham Asylum, Forza 3, and now BoP.) In all cases though they say that this offer is valid in the UK only, and since I live in Germany I'd therefore be taking a chance that I don't get the content if I order from them.

Bah, I already have Birds of Prey pre-ordered at Amazon (along with DiRT 2, which releases the dame day). Now I wonder whether I should switch my order to Game on the off chance that I get the bonus content.

There isn't a deal to get those planes via pre-order in the states? That sucks for you.

Anton has mentioned several times that you get these planes by pre-ordering, the offer is also mentioned on the Game store website and since you have to download them off Live Marketplace they wouldn't be much of a bonus if you didn't need to pre-order to get them free.

Business decision. They are trying to make some extra money by selling some of the planes separately. A lot of other companies do the same, so I guess we shouldn't be too surprised. At least it means we should be able to look forward to a steady stream of DLC.

Yeah, I really don't like the way they have deliberately cut two aircraft from the game to sell separately. I don't mind paying for content they create after the game comes out, but this is just a rip-off.

yes it annoys me but ive gotten so used to it now, what with many other devs doing the exact same thing, sometimes much worse things being cut.

if i cant get the pre-order bonus i will certainly fork out the extra cash for those extra planes.

but dont get me wrong i still think its not a good idea cutting them out.
