i only pointed this out because the developers said it was based on the il-2 damage model, so i persumed i would see these things that is all. the planes either go down in a ball of flames or a wing comes off and it crashes.
i havent seen alierons, rudders & elevator parts, landing gear or wingtips come off yet, but maybe i need to play more. are the damage models different for each difficulty level? the rest of the game is beautiful and plays well, im only concerned with this aspect. |

I have shot off the tail of a bomber, have had oil splattered all over my screen from a good strafe, and have seen a Stuka drastically lose speed and control but still flying and firing. The damage model is definitely one of the most advanced I have seen on a console.

I've shot the tail off an HE 111 several times and got my wing sheared off once by a flying tail section.

I have shot off the talils of bombers and I have made them leak oil. Once I got into a doghight with an ME 109 and after I put some big holes in it it slowed down went into a tailspin and crashed.

I enjoyed the damage model as well.
I have even broken off my landing gear and have done prop strikes for fun. They only thing I don't like however, is the instant explosion from hitting the ground even if a make a reasonably good belly landing. And when I do make a belly landing, the plane explodes as soon as it comes to a stop. ![]() *pppppppsssssshhhhhhhhh* Phew! That was a close..*BOOM!* |

Yeah, this bothered me, too. I liked in IL-2 just flying around and landing anywhere there was enough room. It also made it more fun after a mission where you're all shot up, being able to lose the landing gear, have the propellor break off, and come sliding to a stop next to the runway, but still survive. In a game where they seem to have made some compromises to make it easier since people will be crying how hard Sim mode is, it seems strange to actually make landing unrealistically more difficult. I was wondering if this was maybe put in to cover up damage modelling not being that accurate or something. |

Also if you try to land on water right when you touch it your plane immediatly sinks.
