Believe me .... there's been about 6 of us testing this on different machines, all with the same result.
I have spent weeks testing SLI & Crossfire setups in all configurations (its what I do). Only the Later hardware and drivers cause the problem the rings are not there with 7900 gtx and 8800 ultra cards. A fix in the core dll's would do it. Re: the two pics Top ones Crimea Bottom ones Okinawa The maps use use different water textures/colours also depending on the weather/time of day they look very different. This may sound kinda odd but have you tried the different DLLs that were released a year ago?

Oleg has said basically he is done with IL2 series.
All his actions, since the release of an unfinished 4.09 pretty well confirm it. IMO, best to forget it and consider it to still be the best display renderings of any other WW2 combat flight sim available. You might ask questions about it in the Questions to Oleg Thread above. Oleg may at some point address some of the questions and requests. Last edited by nearmiss; 05-27-2009 at 01:56 AM. |

Well, I've had these rings with old drivers, new drivers, ATI cards, NVIDIA cards (even 3 different 7900GTX's) and several different computers. I've tried every setting possible and every dll released by Oleg.
This issue has been around for years. Many people don't even know about them, for various reasons. For one thing, they're really only visible under certain conditions, mostly dictated by particular weather and time settings. Also, these rings may not be so obvious, depending on your actual viewing conditions (in-cockpit/external view, zoomed-in/zoomed/out, angle of camera, etc.). In some cases, you really have to make an effort to spot them. However, once you see them, they are so obvious you wonder why you never noticed them before. Also, if you look into this issue further, the 'rings' are not just over the water. They are also in the clouds and the sky, in different configurations. You can see this best during early morning/evening mission times. Also, in the clouds when using 'extreme' weather settings, such as Poor/Blind. I've also noticed that the effect seems more pronounced when using 'New Clouds', compared to 'Old Clouds'. I guess it couldn't hurt to keep discussing this issue, although I would be surpried if it's ever resolved. Aviar

Actually he didn't. He said that work on IL2 has stopped quite a while ago to concentrated all resources on SoW and the final will not be released before SoW is finished. That still means we won't see a final version of the patch soon, but it does not mean Oleg said we will definitely never ever see it. |

Is it possible for a outside person or company to update the DLL file??

You need to know what 1c's structure is for the core dll or you will be in the dll for a long time "guessing" as to what does what.
Its easy enough to see what's in there with PE Explorer knowing what to do with it is the tricky part. |
