I'm wondering what the 5 software is like when used on a 4 Pro?
I also see the 5's software is still a beta.

The TrackIR 5 Software doesn´t work on my system with my TrackIR 4 pro.
The Software starts and then i see a error box that som memory couldn´t be read. The options are ok or debug, neither works. I am waiting for a feedback from NaturalPoint.

I would not expect the 5 software to work with the 4 or earlier unit's...nice of them to do that

I tried the beta 5 software, but it always crashes the moment I launch it
 so I'll wait to a next more stable release.

I was trying to say that it was nice of them to make it backwards compatible

The 5 software will work on 4Pro (I know I tried it), however it seems to jump about quite a bit and seems to 'judder'.
Take into account though, it is beta software for the 4Pro and hopefully it will be sorted.
