My mistake, I was thinking of Tupolev. I got confused because so many of his pre-war designs are designated as ANT-## rather than Tu-##.

No problem. This confuses many even in the Russian speaking community.
ANT, AN, Antey (An-22).
I agree with your comment on Tupolev's designs in general.
