My solution for the crown was just to improve the morale by taking it off when fighting Thorns and leaving it on while fighting everything else. It slowly improved until the morale was high enough to use. Its up to 100 morale now

Also quite usefull variant, but anyway I'd advice to use other hemlets with better bonuses also if you don't have many thorns in your army
