But seriously: Can anyone understand the purpose of this site?
It has been stated time and again that updates and PR is the responsibility of the publisher. If that is true, then this is probably not the site for info on SOW:BOB. That argument is supported by the fact that this is an IL-2 site, not a SOW:BOB-site.
But the IL-2 series is excelently covered over at the UbiZoo! Why was this forum created?
I'm stilll coming here twice a day to look for any update on SOW:BOB.
Now I've started to look for info on where I should look for info..

Well if my memory doesn't let me down, I recall Oleg answered a question not long ago where he stated that an official SOW site is under development and it is planned to go online one of these days (new year's maybe?).

This is not a forum for SOW, as seen on the header; this is a forum for Il2. I guess Oleg uses it just to from time to time let us un-officially know what's going on with SOW development, just as he did in the "other" forum back at the Zoo. So I guess we should pretty much consider this place as a sibling to the old place.

The reason why they moved it from UBI to 1C beats me but I am sure there is a legit reason... I guess it's a pragmatic solution. One has to remember that UBI served the market outside Russia, and 1C the Russian market. It makes sense to keep it together. I haven't seen the Russian equivalent to the UBI forums, but considering that Oleg and IL2 is H-U-G-E in Russia I guess it is somewhere

After my conversation with Ubisoft in which they insisted that they are not involved with SOW in any shape or form, i have come to the conclusion that they will not be the publisher. Yes there have been those who have told me that i only spoke to a tea boy, my answer is simple, "phone them yourself".

Phone who? Their customer service people? Like they know anything about games in development and various partnerships. Its definitely worthy to not assume anything these days...Ubisoft might not be the publisher in the end...but I doubt a phone call will clear it up.

Ubi wasn't interested in letting Oleg post updates until the sim was closer to release. Oleg then started posting limited updates on this forum. Not sure if the updates were vague because they didn't want to get into a pissin* contest with UBI or they didn't want to give the competition any heads up on features.

Who knows if UBI is still envolved. Even finding IL-2 1946 on their site store is difficult. Under simulations they only list the early releases of the IL-2 series. You have to do a search for IL-2 1246 to find it. UBI hasn't said a word about SOW since they annouced a release date of end of 2006. We know Oleg wasn't ready to release a dumbed down version of the game so there may be some head butting. Or everything could be hunky-dory and they will start advertising the existance of SOW in the suitable time frame.

I don't have a problem with waiting. We will get plenty of updates when the time is right.
People have been pining for advertising to start for the last 3 years and it would have been a total waste of money if it had of started back then.

When i phoned UBi in the UK, i originally spoke to a receptionist, i asked him if i could speak to someone about the release date of SOW, , he asked what type of game was it because he had not heard of it, i told him its a flight sim. I was then transferred to a guy that had worked with the IL2 series. He knew all about OLeg and Il2 and he had a little knowledge of SOW but insisted that it was nothing to do with Ubi, he then said that i should talk to another guy who was much better informed than himself, he put me through. This guy knew all about 1C and Oleg and about SOW, his words to me were that Ubisoft were no-longer involved with the project. Which when you think about it makes sense, according to Oleg the game should be released within a year, so you would imagine that if Ubisoft were involved they would of already started to get the marketing ball rolling.
It could be that the guys at Ubisoft all told me a pack of lies, it could be that i am telling a pack of lies! However since no-one else has bothered to make a call to check then this is the best info i can give you. It matters little to me anyhow, because it is obvious now that this sim will be released whoever publishers it, but from my info i dont think it will be ubi.

Update, just phoned UBi again and made out i worked for a leading games magazine and that i wanted to speak to someone about SOW, i got to speak to Ubi's group brand manager James O’Reilly. He knew all about SOW but said its nothing to do with Ubi, he said i think 505 are dealing with it, then he said i will just call them to find out, he then told me that he had spoke to 505 and they were not involved, he said hang on a minute, and i heard him ask his team if anyone knew who was dealing with SOW Battle of Britain, no-one knew. I said that lots of company's were taking pre-orders stating that Ubisoft were the publishers. He was aware of this and said that Ubi was in the process of rectifying this. He then said look give me your phone number and i will find out who is the publisher and call you back. So watch this space.
