Well there have been occasions where I put the battle to autocombat and went to the toilet or answered the phone, then came back and cleaned up the mess AI made or when I was rushing through battles to test mods. Other than that though, I don't see why anyone would want to turn autocombat on, battle is a significant part of KB, without it you'd just be running around the world picking stuff up off the ground.
