In regards to 4.07, exactly the same problem as with the patched sim'. I've tried both the original driver supplied with the note book and and two others including the latest one from Nvidia. Oops got to get off to work will finish my reply later ........@work, and I've got a few minutes before I start............. There are two other notebooks in the household, these belong to my Wife (Toshiba) and my Daughter (Samsung) and although both are similar in basic spec' (just not as beefy) they are also both Windows 7 machines, but I'll give it a go and see what happens. My biggest point of confusion is the fact that both FSX and SW Battlefront II worked from the get go, so it has to be something that is particular to IL2 that is causing this issue.

Ages ago, there was an issue with one of nVidia drivers, that ended on a new corrected release from nVidia. It was still on ubizoo era. Only IL2 was affected.
Don't even remember what it was, but it happened. Do you tried it in directx instead of openGL? The big deal between il2 and those two games you mentioned, it is just the use of openGL |

G'day RPS69
No the problem exists exactly the same on Open GL and DirectX, and windowed or full screen is just as unplayable. I guess I could try and grab the driver from my desktop and see what happens, but it's probably not compatible with the one on my notebook, not to mention that been fortunate in that I never needed to roll back an Nvidia driver so not even sure how to so, guess I'll just have to suck it and see.

Thanks dutch but I think you may have confused my problem with a google chrome issue. As it turns out, I only just now figured out how to get it to work, I went to the compatibility setting page and checked the Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" option and tah dah it worked. ![]() So now I have to work out how to force the function lock to stay active and prevrnt the F1 key taking me to windows help and the F2 key changing the screen brightness. But at least with the resolution problem sorted I can now consider investing in a 2nd CH joystick for the notebook and maybe another set of rudders so i can have a portable sim' machine.

Well as for the Function Key issue or as I have now learned more correctly described as an Action Key issue.
Well I took to Google to try and find a solution and by a fortunate coincidence (or perhaps by a well orchestrated and pre-empted Google design - My work PC is a HP also) the top search result for “windows 8 f1” took me to the following HP site: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-D...2457633#M33836 …..and to this How to Disable Windows 8 F1 Key Shortcut KleinC, If you hold down the ESC when you power on the computer, it should give you a startup menu. Select BIOS Setup (F10). This will take you to a Setup Utility. Arrow over to System Configuration. You should now have the option to disable action keys. Here is a link that will show you how to disable action keys. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...reg_R1002_USEN Let me know how everything goes. Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks! Have a good day. I work for HP. So when I get home this evening I guess I’ll giving it a whirl to see if it fixes things.

Were you playing this on full screen or windowed mode?

G'day RPS69
Full screen, before I sorted out the fix I had tried both full screen and widowed and bothe were equally unusable.

I fought an issue with IL2 1946 v4.12.2m for a long time before I discovered this tip. The game launched fine but the yellow cursor would disappear as soon as I moved the mouse which would then not allow any radio button to be selected. Checking the checkbox in the *.exe Properties menu Compatability tab solved the problem.
