So there are treasures to be found that do not light up the ground? I thought that you could only find them when the ground was lit up...?

no. My problem is, there is a delay to the lightup effect and I can pass completely out of sight before it lights up and so I never see it. My solution is to jam the D key all the time while I am travelling
