Copy the whole installation folder to your C drive

C:\IL21946

Turn off UAC

Create new shortcut to desktop

Set IL2 resolution in conf.ini file to desktop resolution.

That's all I did to get it to work.

OK.

Get your steam installation back to normal and patched up via steam.
Then.......
Try installing these sound file dll's back up the originals and put these in place of them.

Soooo, I don't know how to "patch up via steam", I just download the ultrapatch and patch 1.12m. After that, I replaced the ddl-files you gave me, but still: the game is NOT starting at all - not if I choose IL2 through the steam game list or if I try to start it manually with the il2fb.exe.

Could there be another way to get this game working? Thx for all the help till now, guys.

Steam patches IL2 1946 up to v4.09 iirc

Don't put any mod's patches in until you have a stable version running.

Looks like you messed up installing a mod patch .

Going through Steam ment that the first Net Update was ok, launching ok but when starts playing it stops the very first stage: Micro Soft-vc redist package (step one of one)!"
