I wouldn't instal it into program files either.
If the game is stopping at 4.09m, it could be a corrupted patch. That's why we do it step-by-step, so we know which one to single out. You'll have to start again, but at least you can now find 4.09 somewhere else. Have you tried looking at Mission4Today? You have to get an account, but they still host the patches.
