I am having the same problem as calonge-exact same errors. Everything starts fine, game runs ok- I go to enter the first door, and as soon as the load screen finishes, it crashes out. Sometimes I get an error about an invalid call to directx, I'll see if I can get the exact wording again.
Newest directx and everything
Athlon 3000 xp
Asus A7v600 motherboard
Nvidia Geforce Fx 5600 vid card
1GB ram

For anyone who gets the missing d3dx whatevers, go to microsoft's website and install latest directx 9, should fix it

Clever Name , please help me to fixing the problem 4, i can't play this game in 2 week. i use the ATI Graphic card series 9200, is this the reason why this game don't run ? , please help me soon , thank you.

i got 4-6 fps (high setting) ,5-7 fps (low) 1024 - 768 screen resolution ,i dont know what problem is ?I dont have any viruses.
My pc:
IntelP4 3.00Gz,Winpx3,

Try hints at the begining of this thread. Such low FPS is the result of rather weak video card.

Don't start with "update drivers" and the likes please i know perfectly what i'm doing.

I've tried every possible config, resolutions, quality, settings in .ini files, force hardware/software graphic options, windowed mode, etc etc.

The game has the last patch and i'm using XP, 1gb ram and radeon x1600.

ok so in the freedom islands you have the redhaired pirate lady who will be your wife if you kill her feince and the kraken. well i killed both and came to claim my prize only to have the game crash once i clicked 'i have killed him and the kraken'. this has happened on mine and my moms computer who bought a new graphics card to play the game.

*oh and this is out of shipping box moment gamestop got it in, no updates or mods.

now we all here at my house played the original KB on amiga, awsome game!... even if you can only have 3 save files with 5 ppl in the house :/


**and a note to the one who had the problem with the game crashing at the start after the video, my mom's graphics card crashed at that point too and so we also had to master power off cause the video card just turned itself off. got new 6600 and works great.

but yes this crashing was really annoying untill i decided to leave her alone, i tryed everything with this being my first wife swap i tryed leaveing one i had and it still crashed.
