Pretty much in a nutshell. The ROF engine doesn't even have a trench. We are talking about a WWI game.
But that's ok, for $200 you can outfit your Stuka and for an additional $20 you might even be able to buy the target you can bomb with it. Granted this only works if that's the only object in a mission. Get too many and the game just crashes. Sounds like the perfect solution to a WWII sim to me!
