There's a talking bird that gives you scrolls and has a bit to say about stuff.
Anyways why don't Valkyries count? The each have personal quests, powers (in combat and out), and have a nice amount of dialog. They also give passive stat bonuses. The only thing I can think of that the other companions had that the Valkyries don't is some extra space for items.
