My money is on the Meteor being a runway overrun, far too little damage for a forced landing on a beach........I think the Meteor photo is real.

The Lancaster picture is certainly a "fake" but I don't think it purports to be anything other than a cover for an adventure novel. The Meteor on the other hand is most certainly genuine and I think Bongo's is the best explanation.
The Meteor had an appalling record. More than half the 'planes built ended up being written off in crashes. |
