These things will only work with nVidia cards that use the special stereoscopic 3D drivers.
Just forget them. Nice gadgets, very expoensive and completely unusable, just like 3D shutter glasses. Who wants to drag a cable around that's plugged into your VGA adapter at the back of the box? Not me. |

I've got all my functions mapped to my buttons and sliders. I don't need to look to press the right ones. I feel it is the same with many of us. I don't even touch my keyboard.

"Unable to see the keyboard".
This is going to be the single failing of all VR headsets in the future unless they come up with a VR KB you can tap away on by staring and blinking at it Hmmmm US Patent 6388657 - Virtual reality keyboard system and method Last edited by KG26_Alpha; 11-09-2008 at 11:15 PM. |

IL2 has been notorious for problems with 3D drivers. For some it worked brilliantly first go. On the other hand a lot of people had trouble getting shutter glasses to work with IL2 at all.
Hopefully SOW will be more compatible with 3D hardware. |

Yep it is known about these problems, but they are solved if you use OpenGL and with 16x.xx drivers (remember to clean correctly the previous drivers installation, it IS VERY IMPORTANT: boot safe mode, uninstall, clean sweeper, driver cleaner, install new ones, boot normal mode) it works flawlessly BUT in Excellent mode, not Perfect mode, at least for me. Anyway, I trade Perfect mode for 3D without hesitating.
In fact I put some months ago a question to Oleg in the main topic of this forum about SOW:Bob 3D support, but he didn't answer, I think (?). I would love that it was supported. I would love to hear Oleg about that! In fact, seeing the times ahead it seems some fault to don't support it... Last edited by Darkbluesky; 11-10-2008 at 04:36 PM. |

On the other hand I wonder if someone has REALLY tested IL2 1946 in 3D with shutter glasses here. Even in a old-good CRT of 19" is stunning to see all the cockpit in 3D, and to perceive the distances. But if you are able, as I do, to play/test it in stereo3D in a 1.8-2.0 m wide projection screen with a "cheap" DLP projector, I can't imagine someone don't liking it. It's very simple to describe; you just feel you are flying, you just can feel the altitude perfectly and you just can feel the size of the plane you are flying, not to mention the cockpit detail poping out the screen... Add to that to be able to estimate distances (to runway, objectives, other aircrafts) accurately... Definately shutter glasses (or equivalent system) worth every dollar/euro you put on them. I'd be glad to show that to some IL2 fan. And now with the boost to stereoscopy that Nvidia (mainly) and AMD (Ati) are producing, with new drivers, glasses (wireless and recharchable) and monitors (end of '08 beginnig '09), stereoscopic gaming will become more important. I hope SOW:BOB will be ready for it! Last edited by Darkbluesky; 11-09-2008 at 09:46 AM. |
