Yep... All greek to me. I noticed your [NET] 25000=Speed is rather high but you are not complaining about online gaming but being unable to play on highest settings.
I have a 6600 core 2 duo and 3 gig of ram and an 8800gt and I play with everything maxed out and I get frames rates of 60 to 160. I see you have a resolution of width=1680 and height=1050. I would suggest you reduce that. I use 1440 x 900 on my 19inch lcd. That would be my guess at the problem to be honest. As my monitor does not allow higher resolutions I am not sure if it really is the problem though. It would be one setting up on my setting which would maybe lower you framerate by 20 to 30fps not really enough to cause stutter. The lag issue is definately your [NET] setting being too high reduce it to about Speed=10000 for less issues involving packet loss. As for your computer being a single core it still has enough oomph to drive Il2. |

With the P4 being your potential bottleneck (considering you're running an 8800 series VC and 2gb of RAM), reducing your resolution by a notch definitely should improve your frames and smooth things out a bit. Secondly, I also see you're using the onboard sound. IMO, onboard sound for gaming is still a no-go and you will free up some CPU cycles by adding even a mid-range sound card. An X-Fi option like this one ( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1156203598151 ) is cheap and will improve your sound possibilities considerably.
So, 1.) Drop your resolution to 1440x900 and 2.)add a sound card and you should be fine. Hope it helps. Last edited by Thunderbolt56; 08-01-2008 at 01:04 PM. |

you might forget about lowering your resolution, i think.
you will most likely gain a few frames per second at the cost of a great loss of picture quality if you run a lcd monitor in a resolution other than the genuine. 22" means you have to stay with 1680x1050, i say.

Definitely true over a year ago robteK, but I run my 27" (native 1920x1200) at 1680x1050 with no noticeable impact on performance and the picture is still stunning. The 8xAA I run doesn't hide the dots at distance the way the higher resolution does. But that's just me.

Thunderbolt56.
I took your advice and purchased a new audio card. I bought a Sound Blaster Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional. I got a slight boost in performance, and the sound quality has improved 10x. |
