It really is a damn shame, that 1C is unable to make DS with this gorgeous map. Damn shame, i just have to repeat myself, but it really is.

It ships with the 4.09 beta but the beta doesn't include any missions that use it.

If your not familiar with FMB just bite the bullet and give it a try. To just sight see all you need to do in FMB is load the map and add EITHER a home base and save it to one of the net folders and start a multiplay server or two way points for a player plane and hit play within the FMB.

I have made up a series of fun whacky very non historical instant action missions on the Slovakia map to try out some of the new objects. One I particularly enjoy has you are parked in an Emil near a small outhouse in a remote village up in the mountains when a couple of Fiat biplanes bomb your washing line and you need to do a very rough bush takeoff and get your revenge before putting down on a bit of road in the next valley across before you run out of fuel

If I get a chance I might post it a couple of the Slovakia missions I made up somewhere for people that do not want to fiddle with FMB. Though I am pretty sure there will be quite a few other people with missions already available for download if you scout around.

Indy/Jurinko

How safe is the current Beta map to start mission building? Is there anything on the completed map that might upset missions that have been created already? (e.g. Airfield spawn points changing).

There have been documented changes on some of the new maps..some of them major. Don't let that stop you, but be aware that when the reworked maps are finally released, your mission(s) may be affected.

One thing I would advise against is making a campaign using one of the new maps.

The final airbases including spawnpoints are described in the Slovakia final readme:

http://www.letka13.sk/~indy/readme/slovakia_readme.pdf

There are two more coded airbases - Drazkovce and Muran - but for small AI fighters only, more info in the readme.

Other changes - some cities were finalized (Trencin) and all objects found on railways were removed (in cities Trencin, Liptovsky Hradok). Also texture placements were improved but it does not affects missions.

I think it is safe to create missions with the beta, possible mission adjustments can be quickly done with the final map.
