After the Port Arthur shootings, the Australian Government, forced gun buy back of semi-automatic firearms and pump actioned shot guns. (though they never did quite explain why pump actioned rifles were ok????)
One guy in the Northern Territory had been collecting Hispano cannons, and had accumulated about a dozen in various states of repair. All ended up in the smelter.  Museums would have been more appropriate.
