I too am having the exact problem.
Loaded game fresh....loaded into Steam. Upgaded to latest patch version v2.05.13... Open Game...loaded in Gamespy code...successfully... Open Multiplayer...login bring up all the multiplayer games and every game I try to join is Unable to join game Desynchronization error. HELP!!!!!
