Before I did this I was getting bad stuttering and my frames were a constant 30 - 60 FPS up and down. Now with the new setting I get 55 -60 FPS most of the time and far less stuttering. My system spec is listed below, I hope this helps someone else because I'm pleased that some people helped me out with this.

Quadcore i7 930, overclocked 4.0ghz
4gig ram
Geforce 680GTX
Raptor HD
Gigabyte X58A
Hyperthreading? Turboboost where do I find these to disable them? HELP! Getting 8-20 FPS and its driving me mad...Game Booster didn't help...

In one of the older versions i tried that. It didn't work for me. But here's the question. Why disable HT when they said they just improved it it in this beta?

I never turned it off and never had any issues with FPS. Usually averaged 50FPS + online and off with HT/boost on.
But hey whatever works!
EDIT: i7 2600K @ 4.0ghz/GTX580 1.5gb/8 gigs ram, etc...

Hyperthreading is not quite the same as multithreading (which is what hey mentioned, I believe), but if this works it's good news for the Intel crowd.

Hypertreading is part of the CPU working flow so you should find it in the bios but do not be suprized is with yours motherboard you cannot disable it.

You can do it in BIOS setup, which you can enter usually with Delete(or numpad Del.. or F1.. depends on motherboard ) key in the first screen (aka "POST" screen) that appears when you start your computer. Consult your motherboard manual or the infinite wisdom of Google to find the right menu.

This only works with the i7 range of CPU's, they only contain 4 cores but each core has two threads. It is great for certain operations but for most games it can have a detrimental effect as they are not proper "cores".

Right, but I wonder, why you buy expensive stuff and do not know the essentials, PotNoodles?

HT, Speedstep, TM and so on can all be issues for bad OC results and hick ups of your cpu.

But as I see on your 680 and your 4GB Ram (which should be at least 6 or better with your video card 8 and more GB), you are not well prepared, but already overclocked your rig. That is strange amd it seems, that you just pulled some sliders in the bios to 4 GHz and not read an overclocking guide for your specific cpu and its stepping/revision/serial number.

You should invest some minutes for your OC, because you are currently running without knowing, what actually happens to your system. Not that you soon get a destroyed system, because it is running on bad settings for its lifetime.

Just a tipp!

Can I just say that is where you are completely wrong! This overclock is done by proper Techs and was sold to me ready overclocked by a well established firm. I was told that if I add more then 4 gig of Ram that I would lose the overclock and it's funny how I have never had a freeze or shut down which would indicate it had been badly overclocked. I have read all about Hyper threading since discovering about it and now I know it's better to have it switched off. Well in my case it must be because it's vastly improved my FPS and my cores are all at low temps because I monitor them with with core Temp. Not one core is above 46c. So where again is this overclock done badly?

Edit: I have noticed that turning TM support back on I still get FPS so this is all to do with the Hyperthreading been disabled.
