Well i can say in my case:
I was a big fan of IL2, first with FB, then PF, then later on 1946.
Had a lot of very enjoyable hours in the previous. Being a big fan, I followed the development of what was originally going to be " Storm of War" I believe, fairly closely. After a while I just got away from it I guess, with time dragging on out.
Then I read it was released as Cliffs of Dover, and I headed over to the forums, including this one.
Then I read all the issues with the original release, so I held off.
Then I read about the patch and some things it fixed, and things it did not. I still held off.

It wasn't until about 5 weeks or so ago, after reading about the next patch being worked on and the performance improvements to come with it, that I took the plunge and purchased it - from Steam - paid full price.

I do not regret it, I have not but maybe 3 hours of actual flying time in it so far, but it ain't all that bad. Granted I am not an online flyer, offline only, and on my system I get relatively decent peformance. I am looking forward to getting more time in it, and the next patch that will hopefully soon be released.

I certainly have no regrets so far - it is quite a beautiful and complex sim.
