You can install the game via steam and then move the entire directory to another drive by using the junction or mklink command. Essentially, Steam will think the game is on C: but you've actually moved all of the pertinent files to D: (or wherever). I've done this to put CloD on one of my SSDs.

There's a few tutorials on how to do this on the net. Search should find them pretty easily.
