Does anyone else have trouble switching from Blue to Red?. I personally like to fly the BF-109. But I like to see even teams so I've started flying a Spitfire. Not an easy thing for me as its a totally different bird to the 109. One thing I find frustrating is converting measurements and the inability to read the gauges at a glance. Much of the time when things get busy (like tracking a bandit) I have no idea of my airspeed or height. It makes me want to stick to blue..
This would never happen in real life. A pilots life would depend on their ability to read the gauges at a glance. He would most likely be flying for his country of origin. I think the heads up display (Pilots choice to switch on/off) is a necessary if red/blue team switching is to be encouraged. Further more I don't see it being in any way a cheat just a simple way of emulating what would not be a problem in real life. |

Use the command "Glance at dashboard" to momentaneous check instruments.

3.216 feet = 1 meter
1 mph = 1.6 kph 2025 yds roughly 1800 meter but i don´t know what conversion tables the dev used, so i simplify 3ft = 1m and so forth |

2025yrds*3 = 6075' 6075/3.216 = ~1888.9m ( but we're only talking 89 meters in 1800 so as you say fairly rough ![]() Cheers! Last edited by Skoshi Tiger; 11-08-2011 at 11:30 AM. |

i wasn´t sure, how much 2025 yds were, i just remembered that it was more than 1800m, hence the rough estimation.

Sorry guys you seam to miss my point. I have no trouble in the 109 cockpit. The displays are quite easy to read even though their computer generated and all measurements are metric. The Spitfire is far less easy to read and written in imperial.
Now in real life the dashboard instruments would be much easier to read. Also all the different standards of measurement mean the same thing,so it can't be considered a cheat if I had the choice of measurement. After all German ground control messages are written in english right in my line of sight in easy to read contrasting colors. So would it not be a big ask to either have a heads up display of critical measurements such as speed and height or even better have the choice to have metric or imperial on the actual gauges. Some will say it's not historically correct and that fair enough. If they find it ruins the game for them they don't enable the featcher. For me having a conversion table on a piece of paper stuck to my desk is much more of a buzz kill. I know if I was a German pilot that defected to the allies(I'd be shot ![]() |
