Jason, Bottisham Airfield Museum Chairman has asked me to post this. “Thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign to save this historic site at Bottisham. We are exploring every avenue available to us and have been in touch with the Airfield Conservation Trust and the Airfield Information Exchange, both of whom have pledged their support. At the moment the landowner is in talks with a number of developers and until these talks are further along it is difficult to know what sort of planning application we will be facing. The Bottisham Airfield Museum Group will do our level best to save the site but in the event we do lose it then we are determined that the museum will carry on.” Jason Webb, Bottisham Airfield Museum Chairman Cheers J jasonwebb361@btinternet.com P.S If anyone wants to get hands on there will be restoration evenings coming up ,please contact Jason to let him know and i will post dates and times when they are decided. |

I'm sorry to say that, but it seems were talking about a backyard with some remains of a former airfield in the middle of a village.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=52.2...4&source=embed In all honesty this is neither the right place nor has this museum a future - because of the location. Afaik, there are plenty of bigger sites outside villages rotting, maybe it's time to move on and focus on one of those? |

“I am not sure if you have ever visited the site or the museum – it is not a backyard but instead a completely intact complex of 6 wartime buildings & 2 air raid shelters. I can’t think of a better site for the museum and I believe the museum does have a future telling the story of an important wartime airfield & we have as much right to survive as similar museums such as Bassingbourn, Parham, Rougham etc that tell the stories of their airfields.” Jason Webb BAMG Chairman |

I made a quick overlay. Could you please point me to where these remaining buildings are? Couldn't find them on the satellite images.

Yes, I just realized that the buildings are about 1km away from the actual field.
