Oh i'm sorry, I have been talking about the non mobile 6970, I have a mac pro, the stationary mac, although I also have a 2010 macBOOK pro with a m6870 but I don't want to install windows on that one since the disk is so small.

For me, the 6970 vs the 5870 (the big stationary cards) the difference was fairly big, I could run everything maxed with grass off in 2560x1440 at 30-66 fps while the 5870 has to drop down to 1920x1080 or even 1600x900 in resolution to do the same fps.

In the end there was too much of a hassle to have both cards in my mac pro since I need the 5870 to run in osx.

If he has the budget i'd really get a new card though cause it was smoooth

Also did u install the card yourself or did you send it in? He says he thinks he can do it but as someone who has taken apart a laptop before I recommended to pay someone else. I just remember all of the things i had to take apart before I even got to the MB.
