Thanks ever so much for your posts guys, its really appreciated.

You answered all of my questions.

Tomorrow I'm gonna go for the Vtx 6950 2gb as I have managed to find it for just under 190 quid, at my local supplier.

I have a 560Ti 2gb running everything on max and haven't had a problem, the lowest fps I've had flying is down low over London with fps at 28-35. TC

And I thought there was no computer yet available to run CloD with everything on max.

Anyways I've been happy with my 6950 2GB. Runs smoothly since couple of patches ago. Gotta try max settings next time I play.

People with modern hardware who cant run it on max (more or less) is doing something wrong.

Dont ask me what though.

I have the 6950 2gb and I can't really fault it. It runs COD with everything maxed out perfectly fine (except with the new beta, having a few stutters now). I haven't had a problem with it (touch wood, obviously) since I got it and I can't see a need to replaced it save for some sort of catastrohpic failiure. I only got it because it was slightly cheaper than the Nvidia, which was already more than I ought to be spending anyway.

Why haven't you asked us the other night Nitrous? Cancel that order FFS.

560Ti all the way. The ATI cards pump the heat and absolutely scream. You had better buy some ear defenders with it.

Got to disagree there really, mine runs at 33 degrees unloaded and 56 degrees after an hour of CLOD and is no louder than the processor fan and the case temp never goes much over 36 degrees

In all honesty though, this is something that swings back and forth with each series. The 4xx series by nVidia have been some of the hottest and loudest cards to date, maybe even worse than the current Ati lineup.

Then it also depends on what kind of specific manufacturer you choose. For example, some MSI cards come with after-market coolers which are much more efficient and since they don't need to run the fans at full tilt to cool the card, they are also considerably quieter too. An Ati 6950 with one of these coolers can very well be quieter than a similar nVidia card with a stock cooler and vice versa.

Lot's of variables, it's not always easy to choose

I don't know if it's because I've got a good cooling system, but mine's cold as anything and quiet to boot. My PC is fan cooled, and even in the summer where tempratures got above 35c here (where with no aircon it's too hot for me, let alone the poor PC) the card didn't even seem warm, and I haven't heard a peep out of it either. Mine's not standard ATI though. 3D club or something like that, can't really remember. From what I remember I think they put an extra fan on it, not sure, but still, cool as anything and quiet as a mouse (at least compared to my HDD )
