Ned, micro-stutters are a big mystery to me. I thought it was a frame-rendering issue at one time. Then another time I thought it was a bottleneck elsewhere(?) holding up a data flow. So maybe it's a combination of things. We are always chasing bottlenecks as we find them: CPU, GPU, memory, etc.

I sent the author of the article a link to this site, and this "Performance" thread. I suggested he use the sim for GPU testing. He replied he'd give it some thought, and said he found the site interesting. [edited to remove certain content]

People don't like to be spammed or nagged, you gave him the URL that's probably as much as is needed.

Flyby, at some point, pretty early on, well early for me, after the north american release, some people here attributed stuttering to texture loading.

But this article sheds a new light on things, as you say there are so many things that come together in everybody's individual build that right now it seems as if luck plays somewhat of a role.

It'll get better, they did a lot with the beta patch and even previous patches and they'll keep working on it.

I agree with you, Ned. I own the a copy, but have yet to be able to build my new system. I keep telling myself " it's the economy, stoopid!" Even so, I remain very much a fain of this sim and it's older brother. I also look forward to a Korean War effort using the new engine in it's current, and improving versions-to-come.
