Since you are reading this, we can assume that you have an interest in learning more about the AFJ. Please read the following and learn who and what the AFJ are.
The Allied Fighter Jocks are an online group of friends who have a mutual interest in online gaming, especially flying WWII era war planes. We are committed to fun, teamwork, honor, and building a strong unit with a foundation of uncompromising skill and intergrity. Back in 1998, Janes Combat Flight Simulators released World War II Fighters. This game was based on English, North American, and German planes that fought in the European Theater from 1944 through 1945. Being one of the first flying simulators with a very strong online component, Janes Combat Net soon gathered a very large amount of people from all over the world. Very shortly after this, the individual players started the Squadrons, and where there are teams, there will be competition. The first organized competition for WW2 Fighters was the All out War, idealized by my old friend Yossarian. All out War was a dogfight-based competition for Squadrons. No individual pilots were allowed to compete by themselves, which necessitated team skill. Four pilots, four friends, Regor, Warpviper, Knothead and Pistnbroke, decided to create their own squad to compete in AOW. They created the Allied Fighter Jocks! Eight squadrons competed in the first AOW. They were the AFJ, 222, 365th, JG26, 663rd, 64th, ACS, and JG2. Right from the beginning, the AFJ showed how teamwork and camaraderie paid off by winning the first round of AOW. We continued to win every round we competed in, for a total of 9 out of 10 rounds. For three years pilots have come and gone, rotating through tours of duty, but the AFJs skill level has remained among the highest in the JCN. Many pilots have contributed to the success of the AFJ, too many to list. But the AFJs tactics and teamwork can be traced back to two AFJ legends, Knothead and Warpviper. Knothead, in my opinion was one of the best of the best that ever flew a flight simulator. He, and his wingman Warpviper, perfected the art of boom and zoom flying. Their perfect teamwork and tactics made them two of the most feared pilots in JCN. Their tactics and teamwork has been passed down throughout the years. This has created the foundation of the AFJs flying style and created other JCN legends such as T.Rex, Rhinox, Hughj, Mastiff, RedDeth and Taz, all of which have helped create the aura of an almost unbeatable squadron with their success in AOWs. As long as Janes WW2 fighters lives, the AFJ will fight hard to rule the sky. To see all of the AOW statistics please visit our War Stats section of the web page. www.fighterjocks.net In 2001 a new combat based flight simulator hit the shelves called IL2 Sturmovik from 1C Maddox and Ubisoft, based on the Eastern Front of WWII. German and Soviet air forces go head to head in the skies of Eastern Europe. IL2 was a new challenge for the AFJ. Many pilots jumped right into IL2, where as some stayed behind in Janes WW2 Fighters. The AFJ IL-2 members took their combat experience and applied it to this new arena, turning their efforts into two Air Dominance Competition victories. The following are the principles, which the AFJ is founded: Our main goal is to have fun, doing with friends what we all love to do: fly and fight online simulators. We will not forget the AFJ past, so it is imperative for us to invite only pilots that fulfill the AFJ standards: - Above average flying skill. - A gentlemanly attitude of chivalry and fair play in the matches we compete and practice. - A good sense of humor and friendship. - And above all, be able to have fun! If you believe you have what it takes to be a part of the AFJ then please fill out are enlistment forms on our webpage The AFJ Spirit Semper Invictus, Long Live the Fighters! If you fly RAF or Luftwaffe in full switch, or would like to fly full switch then give us a shout. We're a laid back group where immersion and enjoyment is primary. We are of various nations in the European and North American timezones and communicate in English (to various standards) and German. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We run "Kenley Wing" operating Hurricanes from No.615 "County of Surrey" Squadron and No.111 (Fighter) Squadron supported by the daring Spitfires of No.64 Squadron. To complete the RAF we operate "Biggin Hill Wing" with No.501 "County of Gloucester" Squadron and No.32 Squadron on Hurricanes with Spitfires from No.610 "County of Chester" Squadron. You don't have to be an ace, we are welcoming to all standards even if you've never flown before and can't yet start your engine. Training will be provided to get you flying and enjoying our activities via 6 OTU before posting to a squadron (largely based on your preferred type). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Our Luftwaffe operates as II./Gruppe and III./Gruppe of Jagdgeschwader 26 "Schlageter", the Abbeville boys and the 'natural enemy' of Kenley and Biggin Hill Wings using the Bf109 fighter. We also have a committed Zerstorer staffel in 6./ZG26 performing intruder raids in the Bf-110 heavy fighter. Our staffeln cater for German and English speakers though 6./ZG26 is purely English language. We are frequently engaged in CoD fielding many pilots on both Allied and Axis. We gather regularly and fly together at altitude on the public servers available and regularly fly our own historical immersion based campaigns in our private server. When ACG form for these missions we are packed in the server from our factions plus large raids of AI bombers. These are not empty squadrons/staffeln, we operate according to historical numbers. At time of writing there are over 120 active pilots in ACG and growing. All of these squadrons make up Air Combat Group and our goal is to have both factions fighting historically but remaining good friends, there IS a place for you. If you would like to know what we expect from members please read here: http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/foru...php?f=3&t=1086 We operate a Teamspeak 3 server at 85.236.100.27:16317, please come in at anytime. Our new website is at http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk with all the information about us, our forums and a flight school if you want to know more. Please post freely (registration not required for guests). Finally, if you just fancy flying with us then please come in, we are a public group for general activities. Hope that's not too much reading, if you are interested just jump into our comms or make a post on our forums or shout at any of our members online ~S~ Osprey |
