how do you install the 4.09b patch with the version switcher? Could you explain the procedure as I don't want to mess up my 1946 4.08 installation?

many thanks,
Eckhart

Ok, let me sum it up a bit...

Apparently there is no problems with core DLL`s...Except some texture flickering along the coast lines for some 8800 series owners, yes?

There are no issues with increased visibility while setting LandGeom=3...

There is an issue with sound dlls, that kinda not related to this topic, but i`ll make a note of it. The issue seems to be with early AMD XP series and some AMD 64s....

Did i get it right?

Sounds about right Ivan, the video is OK with my ATI card. Just the one .dll hangs up at 95%. BTW, I have a onboard sound card. Maybe that is the villian ?

The blue "flickering textures" bug on aircraft 3D models is still an issue! Many 8800 owners report having this problem, no matter what driver is used, and no matter what settings are used. I really think all 8800 owners have it, but it manifests itself on a random basis, and some may not have noticed it, unless looking at an aircraft in external view. If you use an 8800 you frequently see the blue flashing textures on the wings and cowling.

FoolTrottel and I have posted numerous screen shots on the nVidia issues thread at ubi, and in here. Several screen shots that accurately show this problem are documented in this thread:http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...1711062135/p/6

This is a very good image of the problem:

One possible issue (very minor) I stumbled on while using the increased view distance option: Torpedo wakes are visible from a very long range, something like 10km or so. Much longer than they should be visible.

I stumbled on this while playing a QMB mission on the Crimea map. There are two groups of vessels just off shore that have their own little battle, including the launching of lots of torpedoes. After I was finished with the air-to-air bit I was practicing, I flew over to the ships to watch the battle. I saw several wakes in the water long before I saw the ships. The wakes turned out to be from torpedoes.

4.09 beta installed via JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler over 4.08m (not modded).

Correct. I get the flickering textures on the water with both the reflections along the coastline and from the reflections of the ships. I'm using the 8800 GTS in SLI mode with the latest nVidia drivers.
