Funnily enough, on the performance/optimization side, that's only playable because it's ArmA2's engine (Liberation 1944 was a mod which the team are making standalone game) which has gone through a couple of years of patches It was buggy as hell when it came out, kinda like a certain other game ^^

Been really looking forward to this, their Panther looks sweet as a nut and the mission builder's great. Arma 2 was a nightmare for me when it first came out. Now I know my system can run it well. Just like RoF, who should really develop a WWII sim based on their engine, perhaps Flying Tigers?

Graviteam's Blaze of War looks exciting too. If they ever come up with a Sho't Centurion I'll simply explode.

Yes it's a stand alone rather than an add on or a mod, but will use the engine used in Arma 2 OA. There'll be modifications to the way the engine calculates damage so it'll be much more realistic than Arma's hit box DM which isn't very good at simming armoured warfare. It'll be out end of this year/begining of next.

They bought the licence to use the Virtual Battlefiled Engine implemented in ArmA2.
AS Liberation was a successfull mod in Operation Flashpoint, the "Il2-1946" of the ArmA series (means BIS first release), they now jumped on the commercial way to create a own WW2 combat sim.

Actually similar like Red Orchestra which was licenced by the Counterstrike engine.

So yes it is a standalone game by full price.
Announced to be released in this autumn.
