That's because this supposed etymology for the word is a load of the old proverbial itself. This word has a long history and there are many related words in other languages and is certainly not derived from acronyms on shipping containers. Not hard to find information if you are interested.

That's true mate. Don't agree that the origin is a load of .... It's very well documented. Anyway, way way way off topic.

As a final word on the off-topic s-word: it seems to have deep proto-Indo-European roots, and certainly has nothing to do with sea transportation of manure. See here (and yes, the word is used here - do I get a ban for this?) for a discussion of the myth, and any decent dictionary for its etymology.
