Maybe MG were forced by contract to make a sequel to IL2 for Ubisoft so they released this beta under the name COD. Now they can focus on SOW and start the series with a new game based on this engine?
They they can rake in the customer dollars directly without the Ubi middle man.
This way they also don't lose the name SOW like BIS did with Operation Flashpoint as Codemasters owned the name.
