Need help for PS3

No dice, Dudes. Rebooted it stick plugged in, not plugged, with this contoller, with the wireless one, etc. Game boots. I get the Main Menu: Single Player, Online, Profile, Credits. I click Profile and get the Profile Menu. Options, Hanger, Encyclopedia, Pilots. I click Options. I get General, Audio, and Controls. BUT when I click Controls I IMMEDIATELY get the display of the wireless controller and get 4 options: wireless, wireless aviator layout, Thrustmaster 1, and Thrustmaster 2. There is no mention of Custom, PC stick, or anything else anywhere. I even tried going the back door by opening up a mission and going into the PAUSE menu to controls. All very frustrating. Even worse knowing I already have done this once.
