3%? you are wrong... make a log of cpu usage and you'll see that is much more than 3%

in the interface of facetracknoir there is a window where is indicated the real time perfomarce of the software and the webcam: cpu usage 3% at 29/30Hz
My webcam is a logitech 5000 pro

i said to take a log of the cpu usage, and not a precise moment of use, and you'll see it jumping more than 3%

btw the question here was for eyecam + freetrack, we are all offtopic

I have a PS3 eye and can run it with FaceTrackNoIR.
The eye uses more CPU than standard webcams. I can use a cheap standard webcam (not as good quality) and the CPU as utu says, is much lower. Looking at the FTN window it drifts between 5-11% with the PS3Eye. If FTN loses your face and needs to reacquire, all cores will spike momentarily. On a multi-core processor I suggest using affinity and setting it to a single core.

The eye is much better in low light and has higher FPS. I guess it has more demanding hardware and software.

Glo

Sorry, still slightly OT.

anyone using freetrack with ps3 eye with driver that work, I don't mind modifying camera, I'm using dual core processor and need to keep cpu usage down but will keep FTN in mind, thanks

Facetracknoir is currently the only one that will do it without the need for any hardware hacking whatsoever.

I don't know of any other face/IR tracking projects other than facetracknoir, freetrack and trackIR - it'd be interesting to see what someone could do with the kinect SDK, but it's a relatively expensive option, comparable to the trackIR product really.

Freetrack needs a couple of files to fix it to work with the PS3 Eye as well as the CLEye drivers - I assume that's what's been posted in the mediafire link above - have a quick look in the Freetrack forums and you'll find the full instructions.

Freetrack is nowhere near stable on my machine, but it'll only usually crash after playing the game has ended, and in all honesty it does a much more accurate job compared to facetracknoir - don't get me wrong, ftnoir has a lot of potential and requires very little setup, but a well set up freetrack system is much more accurate at the moment - and no doubt trackIR would be more accurate, and in turn much more expensive.
