Yes, but that's not what I suggested and how it works in my case. If you use X52 profiles, you can't use combinations like "q+hat switch left" and "q+hat switch right". And using this method of binding makes it much easier and consistent to remember all the bindings. Besides, this way you don't run out of keys on your keyboard that easily.

However I use one X52 profile for binding the joystick to the F12 key to centre my TrackIR. The F12 key is just too far to reach without leaning over when my joysticks are on the table. I switch to that profile on the fly when needed. But that's besides the point. This thread was about managing your key bindings as easy as possible.

In my example of "q+hat switch left" I kept it as simple as possible because I think it's best that everybody comes up with his/her own key combinations. In that way I forgot to mention that I use "q+hat switch down" for automatic pitch and "q+hat switch up" for feathering the prop. This way you have already 4 bindings and you have to remember only 1 key for all things that have to do with prop pitch. This system works perfect when you keep it consistent for other functions (left=lower, right=higher, down=automation, up=emergency). I hope I've made myself clearer.
