When flying through clouds, I got a surprise, ice mades its way on the windows ! It does disappear after a while. Altimeter becomes crazy in clouds.

Turn on the pitot heaters when flying in or near clouds to correct your altimeter problems, airspeed gauge can be affected too.

Also, when flying in aircraft with a carburetor, turn on your carb heat. I flew through a cloud yesterday in a G.50 to see what would happen (there's no carb heat on the G.50) and sure enough, shortly before exiting the cloud my engine seized.

Thought i'd go play with some specular texture and config elements today.

Some elements are increasing the vivid nature of these planes, some making them a bit too shinney \o/ bordering on metallic LOL.

In motion things looks really really nice like this. heres a few hastily taken shots.

shadows get a serious boost too in a good way. also i believe when the viewing angle reflection angle are just at that special moment it produces a semi flash of light which ive seen at distance with these changes, very striking it is.

But.. hold on. lets expereiment with what we might like to see. and some realistic sentiments on reality. then some artistic licence to the shot.

heres a photoshp tonal adjustment of the last pic too. interesting. How good does that look with such a basic change. ? we need a POST processing HDR filter that does that !!!!! OR ! some external lighting changes within the config files. now where are they.... o¿o let me at 'em, let me at 'em !

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Titled " LOOK " reminds me of some real spitfire art. without the specular changes it wouldnt have Looked as is. but its still photoshoped after all. In 5 years time however this is the shader qualites we will be experiencing. I do want 1C to be around doing this all over again at that time. 100% support from me.

Thanks 1C. I've never been charmed by a pc simulation before.

Wow, that really makes a big difference. I agree that the game seems a little too unaffected by shining parts. In real life, we all know that even something as small as a watch reflecting the sun can be blinding even at a distance. This is often what pilots looked for when scanning sectors, a reflection from nearby aircraft. The default game has few of these moments, whilst the first photoshop edit you made looks REALLY good. It makes the original look like it's been viewed through sunglasses. The last image is Wings of Prey :p but seriously the second one... photographic!

Thanks for sharing, I'm interested to see what you develop from experimenting with these parameters in the future

Wow, best looking screenies I've seen to date. The extra reflection brings the whole thing to life.

I did a graphics comparison. IL2 COD shows beautiful graphics at dawn but if you go beyond this time range it looses most of the beauty at least on land.
Watch it full screen.
