Doc,
I'm using a 6970 with the Cat 11/3 drivers and I don't have the pixelated sky. I'm not sure what causes it in your case, but here is the contents of my conf file from "C:\Users\NJM\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\conf.ini". You could try temporarily renaming your conf.ini file to something else and putting the text below into a new conf.ini. If it fixes the sky, then you can try and work out which graphics setting causes it. I share your exasperation that 1C don't seem to have bothered testing the game on AMD Radeon cards. I bought my 6970 specifically for this game, but I'm not sure now that it was the best choice. The graphics error that winds me up the most is the lack of horizon haze and that blue line/lines on the horizon. That was missing on my Nvidia GTX285. Mind you, by the time they have fixed some of the other more serious problems (broken CEM etc) then they may well have got the graphics problems sorted out. Feedback to the driver teams is all very well (assuming it's a driver issue at all and not just poor coding by 1C), but shouldn't 1C be in direct contact with them? In fact, shouldn't 1C know about and be fixing the "blue lines" Radeon problem? It's their responsibility, not ours.

Well, I did test it with DX9 like Doc suggested and the blue lines dissapear there.
For me running the game in DX9 is a bit of a no go though since I seem to have only half fps as in DX10. Running the game in DX11 (yes, setting that in conf.ini actually works ![]() But yeah, the three blue lines on the horizon seem to be a directX10 specific bug in combination with Radeon cards. |
