Hi Platypus,
I've been struggling with sudden CTDs a lot lately...
The "Launcher.exe" especially crashes a lot... without apparent reasons.
I updated almost anything: from bios, chipsets, gpu, sound module, joysticks, even mouse and keyboard but... the game still crashes a lot.
I noticed this though: the first time I load a mission (any mission it seems...) the game loads fine and it's all "fire and sound".
After the first one, crashes can appear randomly...
Really weird.

Cheers

Hey Rickusty, This is very diffrent from the crashes I encountered. My montitor lost a signal, just in the middle of a mission. There was little or no warning beforehand and *BANG* black screen. This is due to a faulty PSU, wich is not able to provide my new ATI Radeon HD6870 with enough electricity. This is very diffrent from your problem. The best is to start a thread on your own. Launcher.exe failures are very common with this game. I'm sure someone can help you, but I don't know about that problem.

Default COD crashing resolution here

Hey I was having the same problem. If I was under load or idle system my computer would freeze and could only rest pc.

I googled after looking in my PC event wiewer at various critical erros. I found a small post on a forum about it and they said to go to your system Registry and change the Dword from 20 to 60

I did and system has not crashed since. I think it is something to do with RAM or something getting to full or the length of commands are two long. Who cares it is fixed.

Start > Run > Regedit.exe

Got to Registry and change the Dword from 20 to 60

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\WMI\Autologger\ReadyBoot

I did not have many critical errors in my eventlog viewer. Only one Kernell_Power_fault, or something similar. But that error was more likely to be generated by me, using the RESET button. I just had a sudden black screen, because the connection between my monitor and my new HD6870 was lost. A powerloss to the HD6870 is most likelyt the cause of this. My PSU is coming of age (and from a brand that is not found on internet), altough on paper, it should be sufficient to power the HD6870. So, I ordered a new one. But with easter, it'll take a couple of days to arrive.
