Default Assigning Joystick buttons

Hi,

I need some help with question about something that is doing my head in. I have a Microsoft Sidewinder USB joystick and the X, Y and throttle axes have been very easy to assign in the Aircraft menu.

What I can't figure out is how to get the Fire and other buttons assigned on the joystick to fire the guns or other functions; I can't seem to find the 'Fire' option in the Aircraft menu, which is what I thought was the most logical place to find it.

Can someone please explain how I assign buttons 1 to 8 on a Sidewinder joystick in simple terms? Do I have to manually edit a file?

Thanks

No need to edit files.
Key bindings for guns, bombs and rockets are right there in the Aircraft controls list

Make sure that you have the Keys tab selected (not the Axes one), then scroll down some... dunno, maybe 20% of the list.

What you're looking for is in the 4th or 5th sub-section, just after the Autopilot keys. Look for these lines:

Fire Guns (Machine Guns)
Fire Guns (Cannons)
...etc
