In steam - Right click on the game name under your Library, then choose -> Properties -> Local Files -> Defragment Cache Files.

Went from ~25fps to 65fps average in soloflight, pretty impressive boost I'd say. snip

Got a modest improvement (my NV 330 is not a strong GPU) but went from 18 to 27 in BF 109 cockpit view over the channel. Which is from unplayable to playable.
