I think I have fixed it, no crashes yet...fingers crossed.
I reinstalled Direct X and used AVG Tune up, it found over 5000 reg errors on my system, not sure which solved the problem..but its something else to try for anyone experiencing similar problems.

For what it's worth, my experience with latest free version of AVG 2011 is that the "identity protection" module is a cpu parasite. It is always running some script in the background no matter what, so I would advise disabling that part of the program when gaming. You can do this in the user interface.

1) open AVG
2) Click on Tools along the top.
3) Select Advanced Settings
4) Select PUP Exceptions
5) Add rendobj.dll
6) click apply then ok
7) Launch CoD

On step 5, you have to know the location of the file... I can't find it with search... I guess it got deleted? I tried to use STEAM file integrity to restore but no dice... Hmmm... Can someone give the full path for the problem file?

AVG 2011 is a turd. Just get rid of it. Try Avast! instead and you will find your system running faster too.

The false positive detection of rendobj.dll has been corrected by AVG, you no longer need to follow this procedure.

So, sounds like I need to update AVG... Still can someone email me the rendobj.dll as the search function in Win 7 did not reveal it on my machine (let alone its location), so it looks like I need the file (and need to know where to put it).

Please PM me for email. Thanks.

Check with Steam game cache verification, then CoD should work, if not there's could be other problems that prevent the game from working
