CoD won't fully start up

I got the response from ubi support...standard troubleshooting steps...disable all startup apps, update drivers, clear temp files. No luck.

I got the STEAM download version and it runs smoothly without any CTDs (I had one but that was user error). Could it be that the game doesn't like to be installed in the C:\Program Files folder structure? I have my steam somewhere else ... and no issues.

FIXED!

Yay! The Beta Patch has fixed this problem for me. Thanks devs!

Beta patch did not fix this for me.
In fact, instead of getting the screen with sky/black, where I can change time compression, now the little crosshair with the plane appears, instantly disappears, and nothing happens.
Much worse.
