Well, actually, you can buy good old IL-2 through Steam as well. But, this game was around years before Steam itself, so it is not designed to fully support Steam. There is no autoupdates feature for it through this service.

IL-2 Sturmovik was first released in November 2001. Coming up on 10 years ago...there was no Steam or fancy patch process available then. The game engine has evolved quite a bit and there's been a ton of content since 2001 but some of the core fundamentals remain firmly routed in 2001 technology.

So yes you have to patch manually. This was par for the course years ago... Now we sort of expect automatic updating and all that wonderful stuff that a service like Steam, or XBox Live, or PSN, etc. give us.

Do you have to use Steam for IL2 CoD? If that's the case I don't think I want CoD. To me it's another UBI ploy to control CoD and those that buy it. And I want nothing to do with UBI's BS. It's bad enough with SH5 as it is. At least you don't have to be bothered with Steam for SH5 if you don't want it.

Folks who did not apply the previous patches and folks with a corrupt download share your problems.

I was previously using 4.08m before upgrading to 4.10m and then onto 4.101.

But the issue started when I installed 4.10m

cheers,

It seems that you missed 4.09m. Try reintstall 4.09, then 4.10, and last 4.10.1. If it does'nt work, reinstall the game from scratch: 4.07m (DVD) --> 4.08 --> 4-09 --> 4.10 --> 4.101.
