The filter and game protection isn't the issue here IMO. The reasons why it was introduced this late into the game when the majority of bug fixes + optimizations occur are.

Why didn't the team know about this in the beginnings, when they designed the engine / game? Why did they "find" a publisher in Fall last year and more importantly why was it UbiSoft again?

The only way I can comprehend the logic behind this is if they were told to implement this or scrap the project. Which again rises the question of the selection of the publisher...

All this isn't the major problem here. Few people that managed to purchase the game report terrible performance even with the Filter disabled. Weather the Filter is the reason why it wasn't optimized for the last 3 months to a reasonable level - I will not speculate/guess. The fact of the matter is: we can count the number of people that are running it relatively OK in this out-of-the-box condition - on fingers of both hands. If this doesn't reach playable state very soon it will hit bottom very fast!
