Actually, on one note, given that the wing-root is the area of the wings that provide the most lifting force during flight, it may indeed be possible if his speed is high enough. Another EXTREMELY interesting find in the hurrpedo video is that if you fullscreen it and watch the remaining flaps, you can see them "flutter" in the wind. Probably because the mechanizm is damaged and they're just flopping around. Very interesting!
