Those display your current conditions. For example, if a troop is burning, poisoned, slowed, hasted, blessed, etc.

Keep in mind that each negative condition also reduces the troop's morale by one, so effects that cause DoT (damage over time) have two effects - the damage itself, plus the negative morale. One of the reasons why DoT is so powerful.
